Not exactly sure the technical name for the equipment, but when I had my springs installed there they were able to check camber and toe on each individual wheel with....something. :)

That is called an "Alignment machine". :) (Well, as far as I know)
Because it's been a while since I have been to WORKS, they may have gotten a good alignment machine in the shop.

LOL my bad! It was something a little different than the usual ones I have seen at alignment shops though...more compact and not mounted to the wheel like I usually see.

As far as I know they don't have an "alignment machine". A friend of mine said they use some magnetic levels that holds on to the center of the rim and has a bubble levlel to check the camber.

All I know for sure is that my alignment was messed up after I got my EVO back from the body shop and after taking it to two other places Ali at WORKS was able to identify and correct the problem. Thanks alot Ali, I just wish you guys did full tire service so that I would not have to go any where else as I will gladly pay to have it done right.

Glad we could help you out "greel08"

BTW, we do have scales and we do offer in house corner wieghting @ alignment. And no, we do not have a traditional alignment machine. But we do have some fancy tools and tricks to make your car drive straight, not burn through tires, and handle like an EVO should!

Oh yeah we can do the same for your other performance cars too, BMW, Porsche, Subaru, D1GP Car, etc...

Haha I am wondering why they charge double of what others charges too, however from what I heard, every one went there said their service worth every penny and the level of detail they looked into is just as outragous as what they charge. :P

That alignment is 3x what other people charge, not double.

Every time I pull up to custom alignment I see an assortment of Porche's, Ferraris, race cars (from nascrap to road racers).

I paid for a full alignment on my talon. The car handled like it was on rails. Custom Alignment simply is the best I have found in the bay area, Motorsports techniques is a very close second place (only because they don't corner weight last time I checked)

you definately get what you pay for.

I still don't get it. Alignments are not rocket science, the machines do most of the leg work for you. I've done alignments in autoshop in Highschool, no way they can align any better. Maybe you see ferrari's and porsche's there because those kind of people like to waste money.

Speak of Motorsports techniques, I had my car alignmented there last time and the spec was off and they refused to fix it unless I told them how that could be fixed. Now with 10k miles I have one tire worn to wires and other 3 tires still got 60+% tread. I don't think they're doing a good job at all...

So what? That doesn't mean crap. Look at the demigraphic of MV. Everytime I pull up to my valet at my parking garage I see Porsches,* Audis, Vipers, etc What's that mean? Rich people park in the same garage I do at work. It's the financial district. Whhooooopie.

Most of those kind of people think money means everything. A $240 alignment HAS to be 3x better then a $85 alignment!

I want my alignment at -2.7 f, -1.2 rear, 0 toe. How hard is that to do? $85 hard or $240 hard? All I know is I get a nifty printout that states -2.7f, -1.2 rear, 0 toe, every time and the $150 I saved goes to a track event entry. Yay for me.

Just had the Evo aligned at Motorsport Techniques. Other than the $5 in gas I spend driving back and forth trying to find it, it was $85 for an alignment job, and they set the camber for me just the way I (think I) want it: -2 front, -1 rear. I think my tires are now rubbing somewhere, but I just increased the damping and hopefully that will help. Jack even lets you sit in the car while he's doing the alignment, which is something I'd never considered before.

I gotta go with Bryan on this one. Dennis and I aligned my car last week. Without a lift it takes some time and, inevitably, a little trial and error but it's absolutely not a complicated process. Camber is very easy to adjust. It's just the toe that kicked our ass a little bit. With a few simple tools all of this can be done in your own garage though. Corner balancing, on the other hand, is a little bit of a question mark for me. I'm not sure if it can be done at home but I do know that charging $200 for it is absolutely obscene.

like some one here said ITS JUST ALIGNMENT. you dont have to be a rocket scientist
I work for wheel work on alumrock , next to extreme performance. we use the hunter alignment machine. and trust me i work there and i dont even use that thing, im not saying that its suck, but according to books. hunters are only 91 percent accurate , even tho they are 60grand at cost. I send my to a place call

FREEMAN FRAME and alighment. Ive had my car alighment there, they use a ruler with a bubble water on it . ( old but they dont malfunction or miscalculation like computers) that thing is 98 % good. ive seen Lamborghini tow there to get alighment, ferrrari, they work with any size wheel, any type of suspension. etc

im not sure how much it cost for people . but my price were diff .=) goood luck you guys

PS evo alighment are EXTREMELY easy to do it does not worth 250 bux

In 916 I took my evo to a place called ABES on Florin rd between 24th st and 29th. They did a nice job and I had my car lowered about half inch gap between tire tread and fender on stocks. It's been almost a year and even tire wear, no camber at all. They'll do whatever specs you want. i got 0 toe, 2 degrees in front , and 1 degree in the back.
However they do a manual alignment though with something that looks like a leveling tool and they drive the car to make sure the alignment is correct. Not sure about the corner weighing though, maybe got to go the the bay area for that.

Roger Kraus does a great alignment and corner balance. Maybe the alignment is easy to do, but Brandon & co were the only ones to get it spot on. Everywhere else I go is .1-.3 degrees off somewhere. Also, not sure I would trust another shop to do the corner balancing as there is some art involved and many of the top autocrossers use RK.

LIC Motorsports in Novato? does fender rolling.
