Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone has had experience with a cop pulling them over and checking under their car for a cat or not? If you dont have a cat, what do the cops do? And can cops really smell if you are running a TP or not? Any other experiences you guys are willing to share would be great. I'm trying to decide whether I should get a TP or a HFC.

Some people on here have been pulled over because of the strong fumes with a test pipe. I would stay safe and get a 100 cell HFC.

Yeah I was thinking about going with the Mil.Spec 100 cell HFC. So if they pull you over and find that you have a TP, what ticket do they write you? Or does your car get flat-bedded?

Run the hfc. I've never heard of cops actually looking, but I have heard of them tapping the thing with a metal piece of some sort to listen for a hollow sound.

you cant really tell that way... I have done it to a rally cat and a hfc and a gutted hfc and they all sound real close to the same. Plus who is to tell you its hollow now since you cant have the ref inspect you :? I say run the cat that josh linked to above.

if you are really that concerned about the popo, just run a cat and be done with it.

How about instead of a normal testpipe people starting spending a little more and either getting an RRE Rallycat or get cat heatshields welded onto their test pipes? I don't understand how anyone can comfortably drive their Evo in the Bay Area with a testpipe. If an officer asks me about the smell from my car I just say it's running like ass and then if he checks underneath then ZOMG there's a cat.

yeah I'm running a test pipe on my car and it's kinda sketch... It's a good thing I sold my gsc 268 cams for these little 262/264 cams :D

Yeah, just throw them the excuse of, iono my car waste a lot of gas or the repair shop fcuked up the 30k maintaince hence why the exhaust is sounding weird (lumpy cams)

They are not hks 264's it's a 262/264 combo from a company that no longer makes cams. But it will have a pronounced sound at times :lol:
