Wow, you drop a ton of power after 6400 rpm. Nice peak number though!

yes nice numbers...thats how any evo will be tho, you don't really gain any top end until at least cam gears lol

wow, they give you that much!
What year is it?
The new ones can be had for 20-21K, that means that you got a great a trade in!

I have seen other reflashes that keep most of their power after 6400rpm.

The trick to doing this is to not make as much power before 6400rpm  .

Remember when people say "usable power" they often mean "usable torque". A flat torque curve on boost is good. A flat power curve, not so good.

Well there was a dyno sheet posted here by Option2, and it didn't seem to have issues making power before 6400 rpm.

lambtron's car was otherwise stock - something to keep in mind when doing an A/B comparison to a car equipped with an exhaust, throttle body, intake, etc.

All else being equal, you would expect a car with a freer-flowing exhaust, intake/throttle body, and boost pegged to redline, to make more power than a car fresh off the lot. So it begs some questions about the tuning when that car doesn't clearly outperform a stock vehicle, in either peak numbers or in "usable" power - especially given the much higher price tag.

ez76 hit it on the head. And engine is a pump. And all pumps have a VE curve. It will loose VE towards the end of the operating range. This is natural. If it didn't, it would indicate that the operating range just before the end (5500-6500rpm in this case) isn't optimized.

FWIW, ez76's Stg 1+ car makes 360whp, on race gas, on an AWD Dynojet. But forget about numbers. It runs a 1/4 mile of 12.1s with a 0-60mph time of under 4 seconds. Not only does it make a bunch of peak power, it makes most of it as early as possible with the broadest possible torque curve. This is why it is as fast as it is. Does it hold max power to redline? Nope. The VE of the motor won't allow it (turbo runs out of steam a high RPM). But it makes as much power as it can make, at every engine speed, given the necessary constraints (octane, resistance to knock, etc,.)

shiv

I think the message is that the baseline stage 0 XFlash is pretty darn optimized as-is for stock cars.

Actually, you're looking at 10-18whp gains above 6000rpm. But that's just being picky :)

NO SPREADING FUD. Next time you want to say a car is knocking without proof, make sure to do it on EvoM in your own forum, not on NorCalEvo where spreading misinformation is not tolerated.

why does his power dip between 5000 rpm and 6000rpm and jump back up later? What kind of ecu flash are you using? That is interesting.

so If you were to put on a set of Cam Gear which is stage 1, how much WHP will it gain after 5000rpm?

Hi there,
Stage 1 consists of cam gears and a full exhaust. Labtron's car doesn't have either of them... just a reflash. On 91 octane, Stage 1s put down around 260whp on our in-house DD dyno or about 290-300whp on an AWD Dynojet. On 93, they consistently do 310-320whp. For more dyno Dynojet dyno graphs see:

Let me know if you still have any questions :)

Cheers,
shiv
