Its an elise with an electric motor and a body that looks alot better. It shares tons with the elise, interior being one.

Greetings All,

This is not the first all electric performance (sports car). Don't forget the T-Zero: http://www.acpropulsion.com/tzero_pages/tzero_html_home.htm

Had the pleasure of racing one up Mt. Blady many years ago (I had a modded VR-6 Jetta) and it killed me on the way up.

Cheers,

OS

The Tesla is about to hit the market in 2007, 1st quarter.
Look at cost of this thing, with the link above.
I believe that is goes for $100,000 for a collector edition, or something.

Reading comprehension my friend. I said T-Zero, not Tesla.

Good reason, it's based off one.

"You may notice how much the Tesla Roaster look like a Lotus Elise. If you read Wired's article on the Tesla, you'll learn that a Lotus designer penned the Tesla Roadster's shape and that the English sportscar maker will be the one assembling Martin Eberhard's baby. As a matter of fact, Tesla Motors hired away so many Lotus engineers and executives that it was forced to sign a "no-poaching agreement" if it wanted the British-based automaker to build its cars."

One of the guys that funded the project is a car fan and owns a McLaren F1. I'm speaking of Elon Musk of PayPal.com/X.com fame.

wow nice... so I wonder if they could get the price down anytime soon.. did that say 13000rpm! holy crap! I bet that car SCREAMS!

I havent heard any updates on the mitsu in wheel technology.. that seemed like a promising concept as it eliminated drive train loss, lowered the center of gravity and provided an incredible awd oppurtunity.

I just came back from checking this thing out.* I was AMAZED!!!!

The Chief Technology Officer of Telsa (really young guy) gave a great presentation about this car for an hour.* The speach was really impressive.* After that we went outside and there was Tesla.* Al frame, CF body, Advan Neova, AP racing caliper, brembo pad in rear.*

It was really freaky when the guy took off for a show.* No noise but squealing tires!!!* The car is based on Elise but he said 80-90% of the components are new, even the frame had to be modified.* I wish we were at the big parking lot so I could see the handling performance of it.*

I took few pics and movie clilp but I don't know how to post them...
