You guys would be surprised how a lot of Japanese aftermarket products are actually made in TW, China, Thailand, Singapore and other various countries in Asia.

the wheels are the rota torques. 17x8, 18 lbs. i forgot the offset but it clears the brembos with a lot of room left.

Nice rims. Isn't there a center cap for that. I don't really like the center open like that. Dirt and crud can get in there.

GReddy_917
06-06-2004, 10:18 PM
Rotas center caps are gay...I hated the way they looked with my subzeros....but you do need to keep the crud out of the center hub...otherwise problems can brew.

brwnrice
06-06-2004, 10:31 PM
cant reallyput on the center caps because the hub portrudes out.

i'm done modding for now, after the coilover purchase it left a huge hole on my left pocket. maybe i'll just have to buy an airfreshener and that would be it.

It wasn't a special order, but he was the first person to have a set on his EVO, as soon as they came into the wherehouse he picked his set up and was on the road with them.

brwnrice - just wondering, how have the torques been holding up for you. i am interested in getting them and wanted to know if you have had any problems with them so far on your car.

joe

brwnrice
08-17-2004, 04:53 PM
it's been holding up great. took it my car up the mountains numerous times and hit some of the curbs really hard and they held up good. when you get the wheels make sure you get some tuner lugs

brwnrice - got the gunmetal torques yesterday from subydude in Fremont. meet larry and joseph, very cool guys. i highly recommend them if anyone is lookin to by rota wheels. i also got a set of McGard Spline Drive Lugs from them. from what larry tells me they are the ferrari of lugnuts.

i'm waiting for my tein h-techs to deliver. i want them installed before i put the wheels on. hopefully i will get the springs today so i can have everything installed this weekend. i will post pics when i get it done.

awesome! i had tein s-tech's on my car before and the drop height was amazing with the wheels on (one finger gap all around). i saw a couple of post on evom about h-techs having a shitty handling though. post some pics up soon.

jomama
08-18-2004, 01:15 PM
ahhh man, i didn't want to hear that about the h-techs. UPS just delivered them today. i will have to investigate on evom. i hope that won't be the experience with me with the h-techs. anybody here on norcal have them on their car and if so how is the ride quality compared to stock?

jomama... where are you going to have your rotas put on? I just purchased bronze rotas for my rally red, maybe we could swing over together and have them put on..

I also picked up the Mcgard lugs. I couldnt figure out which color to go with.. silver or black, i have evo VIIs coming monday and some other darker elements, so i figured i would go with the black lugs on the bronze, unless someone else thinks i should go with the silvers ????????

evo_dadi
08-21-2004, 05:57 AM
hey brian go with the black the silver might just look wierd with it.

bdking57
08-21-2004, 07:59 AM
good cause i bought the blacks :o the only reaseon i was maybe thinking the silvers would work is other dark rims come with polished lips

bdking57
08-21-2004, 08:23 AM
ok also im going to start looking into bigger tires.. how do 255/40s sound on the rotas ????

evo_dadi
08-21-2004, 07:14 PM
might be too wide since 245's is the optimum width for 8 width rims.but somebody on evom said that the 255 victoracers fit on the stock evo rims.

bdking57
08-22-2004, 12:49 PM
there seems like a butt load of people running 255s... and im sure it would look bad ass. 255/40s shouldnt rub, but i think the issue is your pushing the boder of the safety limits running those tires.

GReddy_917

Word! I have been back and forth with this issue myself lately as its time for me to get some new tires...I would feel a helluva lot better about it if I could see an Evo with the 255's on it in person.

evo-dadi/evo grim/bdking57, i'm down for i drive (maybe even a bbq ), let's plan one for monterey. pretty sure my bro would be in.

bdking57, had mine put on last thursday over at newton bros in seaside. not sure now if i'm going to lower my evo with the h-tech springs (read the h-tech reviews over at evom, some good some bad-i guess it all depends on how you drive your car). probably going to save up for coilovers. i really like the wheels without centercaps but i don't want to leave the hubs exposed to the elements. especially the area that i drive through, alot of farmland (dust, dirt and sometimes mud).

joe

bdking57
08-23-2004, 01:12 PM
ok so what is the issue with leaving the hubs expose.. if i leave them this way, and i clean them once a week, do i have to worry about anything? i know the centerpieces are gay, and im assuming the flat centerpieces they have dont fit?

also what did you pay for having the wheels mounted? did you have it aligned and everything to? im just wondering if i need to increase the camber angle or anything.

jomama
08-24-2004, 08:29 PM
i don't know if there would be any problems with leaving hubs uncovered, i guess we will just have to wait and see.

$60 for mount (took toyo t1-s tires off stock enkies) and balance. since torques are same size as stock, i don't think anything else needs to be done.

joe
